It must be tough to have the Avatar be part of your life. Every Avatar we’ve seen has been attractive, charismatic and powerful. It seems like everyone falls in love with Korra just a little bit (and probably it was the same way with Aang). Poor Kai! Korra sets such a high standard! Why can’t you have abs too?
Not all can be gifted by the god of ABS
You phrase that like they’re inherited or something.
There has to be one avatar who was fat and lazy. I want to see that series. Avatar: Tales of the Do Nothing!
He just never left he house, and everyone was like “Do we even have an Avatar? Did it skip a generation?”
It was the 11th Avatar. He didn’t do nothing, but he was an earth bender, and loved tunnels. He used air bending to keep the circulation allowing him to breathe in the deep tunnels where there would normally be little oxygen, and controlled fire bending to light his way.
He passed away during a tunnel collapse far behind him that blocked the air flow without him knowing. The outside world only knew that he died when the next avatar was found.
CANON.
Totally canon!
I have read that thing about the 11th avatar over and over, and I still just love it so much. I haven’t ever really followed the show, but knowing that just makes me feel fuzzy mind tickles.
It’s a pretty great idea.
Never realised I was the Avatar
Is it weird their I like it that Korra’s armpits aren’t entirely smooth… And I’m one who always shaves, lol. Just more… realistic. I don’t know, it just completes the drawing somehow. Also love that Kai isn’t all muscled up here, many draw him with hulk-sized abs!
I originally drew her arm pits with a more realistic amount of hair, but it looked SUPER hairy. So I settled on what, in the real world, would be a very small amount of trimmed pit hair. I’m sure that Korra pays a reasonable amount of attention to her appearance and personal hygiene, but I can’t imagine that she shaves or even trims her pits on a regular basis.
Probably not. Korra’s life to date is not one with a focus on her appearance; she’s been judged by much more ability-oriented standards.
HOWEVER, Asami, coming from a high-class and wealthy background, is much more accomplished in the domain of maintaining female appearance, and has her own standards for such.
I can easily imagine her volunteering to shave Korra FOR her, and making it almost weirdly sensual, while Korra turns red as a tomato and isn’t completely sure why…
I don’t think I even noticed your “small amount” of pit-hair until it was mentioned. Even going back I have to squint or magnify the page to see the little dots of stubble.
Interesting trivia though: Not everyone in the world is equally hairy. Pure-blooded Native American men cannot grow beards. There’s even a few Asian sub-ethnicities that are entirely hairless from the neck down. (Wish I could remember for you who they were… not one of the bigger countries.)
Pretty much everyone in the Avatar world is at least Orient-inspired. It would be quite believable that there were some groups that had less to shave, or didn’t need to shave at all.
…That said, I suspect if there WERE any groups in the Avatar world with very limited or no body hair, they most likely wouldn’t be the ones who have lived for hundreds of generations in the arctic polar regions. 😛
…Then again, those same groups adapting to the polar regions should also be the palest of all of them, as their bodies adapt to try and get as much vitamin D as possible from the limited sunlight.
The Avatar world isn’t one that expends much effort to make logical sense; it endeavors mostly to be different from ours.
