-It’s kind of amazing to me that even years after the Equalist movement there isn’t a universal defense against the Equalist shock gloves? you would think that anything that could shut down a bender with just one palm thrust would be something that benders would really fear and work out counter measures for. The Equalist movement, at it’s core, had a lot of good points, and theglove is a real literal symbol of equality. Maybe the gloves are pretty rare and just never spread outside of Republic City, where they were manufactured? Or maybe they just aren’t that big a deal unless they’re in the hands of someone like Asami who actually knows how to use them?
Anyway, the idea here is that Asami and Korra are chasing down a group of Dai Li opperatives who went rogue after Prince Wu dissolved teh Earth Kingdom (ior whatever ended up happening). they blame both Wu and the Avatar for the fall of teh Earth Kingdom, so they’ve been causing trouble all over the place. Really, I just needed some generic bad guys for Asami to beat up!
I made a new Korrasami t-shirt! It’s available in a bunch of different styles and colors. You can get it here!
My other Korrasami shirts are still available too!
If you dig my Korrasami comics and would like to see me make more please consider becoming a patron through Patreon. The money my Patreon generates allows me to spend more time making comics and less wasting time working just to pay the bills. I was able to do this comic because of my patrons and Patreon. Without them I probably would have never been able to afford to take the time. You can check out my Patreon here.
Haha! Love the fakeout move she pulls on him. Nice work, Jake.
Well he deserved that. You can’t say the B-word on Nickelodeon.
I’ve sometimes speculated about the possible xenophobia between the different nations in the Avatar universe. To me it felt like the Earth, Fire, Water, and Air Nations kept a pretty minimal association with each other prior to the founding of Republic City, even before the 100-Year War. Thus I have to wonder how often a people would cry favoritism whenever an Avatar born of a rival nation made a decision that wasn’t in their favor. With Dai Li dude’s condemnation of Korra as “that Water-Tribe bitch,” I wonder if either (A) he is ignorant of how the Avatar succession works and doesn’t get that each nation takes a turn representing the Avatar or (B) he knows about the cycle and thus knows that an Earth-Bender is next in line once Korra dies.
He seems kind of incompetent, so I suspect option A.
I’ve wondered about that kind of stuff to. I used to think it must be geography that kept people apart, but it looks like teh Avatar world is a pretty small place. Anyway, I think this particular bad guy just hates Korra. I think he blames her for teh death of the queen and the transformation of the Earth Kingdom. But who knows what his motivations really are? He might just hate Southern Water Tribe people.
You have a bit of a sequencing issue here.
“What did he say that made you chase after him so recklessly?”
which is then answered by…
This filthy bitch line that is spoken AFTER the chase scene.
Maybe he’s just repeating what he said before? But that’s rationalizing, and not what you have presented us. :/
